Stack Effect Analysis The design intention is for the building to be naturally ventilated strictly through stack effect. Wind-driven ventilation is not employed. Instead, the outer skin is an open-jointed glass facade, to promote noise reduction and to provide a wind and rain barrier. Air can pass through, however, and will if the stack effect succeeds. Stack is promoted through buoyancy due to the internal heat generated in the buildings due to light, computers, people, and equipment. There is also a glass chimney at the top, thereby creating the temperature differential needed for stack. To the left is the simplified model used in the CFD analysis. Phoenics 3.1 was used to solve the CFD solutions.
