Stack Effect Analysis

CFD

These results were achieved by assuming a 450000 Watt heat load for the building interior, based on an estimate of 30 Watts per square meter, at 15000 square meters. The top of the chimney was estimated at 15000 Watts from solar radiation.

Stack effect worked quite well, according to this model. The wind velocities are quite high in the stack (around 22 meters per second), but this is considered uninhabited space. In the inhabited space between the slabs, the wind velocities are around 4 meters per second.

If necessary to reduce the stack effect, gaps in the exterior facade could be smaller at the bottom and larger at the top.
